Amsterdam is the capital city of Holland, also known as the Netherlands and the name of the city signifies "The Amstel Dyke". The population of the city is approximately 750.000 people.
Amsterdam enjoys a good climate and with people that have a reputation of being liberal, very tolerant and accepting other people as equals. The city is formed by many islands joined together by bridges and we must remind you that the city is famous for its canals.
There are several very interesting museums to visit like the Rijksmuseum, The Modern Art Museum, The Stedelijk Museum, the Rembrandt House Museum and the Van Gough Museum etc. Another very touristic destination, and many of us have probably read her diary, is the Anne Frank House.
Other places that are important for you to see are the Hortus Botanicus, which is a botanical garden with a lot of history and one of the oldest in the world, the Amsterdam Arena Stadium, which is the home ground of the Ajax and a good place to enjoy sports, and the famous factory-museum of Heineken Beer.
